Physics Science with Lab (Physical Science) 6-8th

Welcome to Physics Science with Lab, a hands-on experiments approach to teaching physics to middle school students. This course is designed to provide students a basic understanding of physics principles in the areas of force and motion, work and energy, thermodynamics, light and sound, electricity and magnetism, engineering and robotics, and modern physics. The course material we will be using is called, “Physics for the Logic Stage”.

This is a 16 week- one semester course meant to be taken in 2 semesters. This is a 2 day a week course which will have homework on the days not in session. It will be expected that work be completed as assigned.

This course also includes labs in the classroom. Some labs will be performed at home as homework assignments.

Auto Maintenance & Minor Repair 6-12th

If you want to learn about basic car maintenance & safety, light repair, auto ownership, and how cars function, this is the class for you. In this course, Auto Maintenance & Minor Repair, students get hands-on experience while simultaneously gaining knowledge of the basic automotive systems of vehicles today. You will learn hands-on how to jump start a dead battery, change a flat tire, change the oil and oil filter, along with many other money saving car repairs you can do from home.

Learning the Elements of Chemistry w/ Lab 6-8th

Description: Come learn about the elements in an engaging and fun manner with Mr. Jeremy Wilson. Students learn about the science of chemical elements. The basic forms of matter made from a single type of atom. Students will learn all about the Periodic Table and tons of interesting facts! Elements are the building blocks for all the rest of the matter in the world. Examples of elements include iron, oxygen, hydrogen, gold, and helium. Students will learn about the elements through weekly projects, lab experiments, lectures, presentations, and video.

Graphic Design & Digital Art Using Wacom Tablets 7-12th

Description: This Graphic Design course will teach students about the visual art of design and design elements. In addition, students will be using Wacom Tablets to learn about Art! Students will be learning how to draw or paint using a tablet. Students will also learn about photo editing, image creation, how to create vector graphics, and text to make beautiful layouts ready for publication. Students will learn the elements of art, transformations, photo manipulations, vectoring, layering, typography, layout, and much, much more. This course will be an exciting hands-on learning experience.

This is a 16 week- one semester course meant to be taken in 2 semesters.

The first Semester students will be focusing on raster-based/pixel art.

The second Semester students will be focusing on vector art.

Multimedia Tech 7-12th

Class Information: Multimedia is a form of communication that combines different content forms such as text, audio, images, animations, or video into a single presentation, in contrast to traditional mass media, such as printed material or audio recordings. This class is designed to introduce students to the many options available in presenting and using multimedia. The class will be project based where students will be working in groups learning about and using multimedia features and software.

Learning outcomes objectives: Students will be able to explain what multimedia is, understand the importance of individual media elements. Learn and identify different components required to run and use multimedia, learn and use features of multimedia including how to import images, graphics, audio and other content into a multimedia presentation. Students will be working with several different software programs to learn the multimedia elements. Towards the end of the semester students will be able to create and demonstrate epic engaging presentations using resources and materials they learned from the classroom.

Description: This course will be an exciting hands-on learning experience. The class is designed to provide younger students through experiments a basic understanding of physics principles in the areas of force and motion, work and energy, light and sound, electricity and magnetism, engineering and robotics, and modern physics. Students will learn Physics hands-on through weekly projects, lab experiments, lectures, presentations, playing games and watching videos. Get ready to learn Physics by doing it, in an exciting and fun way!

This is a 16 week- one semester course meant to be taken in 2 semesters.

The first Semester students will learn Physics on force and motion, work and energy, thermodynamics and more.

The second Semester experiments will focus on light and sound, electricity and magnetism, engineering and robotics, and modern physics.

Video Game Creators & Design 2-5th

Description: This class teaches students how to make their very own video game! Learn the history of video gaming, along with copyright and intellectual property laws within the gaming industry. Develop software skills that let you create and animate characters for your video games. Students will be working with ClickTeam Fusion 2.5 Software and be learning "if/then" programming. By the end of class, students can share their completed projects with each other and get to take them home to share with family and friends!

This is a 16 week- one semester course meant to be taken in 2 semesters.

The first Semester students will be focusing on design and programming for a side-scrolling video game.

The second Semester students will be expanding their skills and be learning to develop a platform type video game.

Video Game Creators & Design 6-12th

Description: Introduction to developing video games using Unreal Engine and Unity. The majority of PC and console games are made with these two programs. Students will learn to create their own first-person shooters, platformers, and racing games. There will be additional opportunities to explore their own unique ideas by creating outlines and project storyboards. Fortnite was made with Unreal Engine and Assassin’s Creed was made with Unity.

This is a 16 week- one semester course meant to be taken in 2 semesters.

The first Semester students will be focusing on Unity.

The second Semester students will be expanding their skills and be learning Unreal Engine.

Block Based Coding 3-6th

Class Information: This class is designed to introduce and teach students the basics of coding. Help boost problem solving and critical thinking skills while having fun. Students will start learning coding using the program Scratch. As students create programs in Scratch they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and have fun. After students become familiar with how Scratch works we will advance to Google’s more advanced version of a block-based coding language called Blockly. These two programming environments use a graphical interface of interlocking blocks to make coding easier for brand new programmers. Coding teaches students important computer science concepts such as conditionals, loops, variables, functions, user interfaces, and more, while teaching kids to build exciting projects. Software is the language of our time, and teaching students how to use it correctly will certainly come in handy. Scratch and Blockly are excellent starting points to introduce coding to kids while also teaching about the process of design.

The first Semester students will be focusing on Scratch.

The second Semester students will be expanding their skills in Scratch & learning Blockly.

Electronic Engineering Technology 7-12th

Description: Electronic Engineering Technology is the study of electronic circuits. Students learn both theory of circuit applications and gain "hands-on" experience by using electronic instruments, microprocessors and computers. Students will be working with Arduino- Microcontroller Motherboards - An Arduino is a micro-controller motherboard or a simple computer that can run one program at a time, over and over again. Fun to learn and use. The course includes several engaging interactive projects, examples include:

SPACESHIP INTERFACE: Design a control panel for a starship.

Wild Weather & Natural Catastrophes 2-5th

Description: This hands- on course examines tectonic and climate related disasters that dramatically affect life on Earth. A few of the topics that will be explored include common causes of tsunamis, the formation of volcanoes, and how earthquakes are handled all around the world. Some of the world’s greatest catastrophes can be better understood through the study of natural disasters. We will examine the Science and History of these events along with their impact on humankind to better prepare ourselves for future disasters.

Description: Join our class of Mad Scientists as we explore the world around us! Parkour Fitness TK-2nd

Description: Parkour Fitness - Parkour is a training discipline using movements that were developed for military obstacle course training. Students will be learning to get from one point to another in a fast steady pace incorporating running, jumping, rolling and other movements in a fun environment. Students will be taught to incorporate critical thinking in their movements to remain safe at all times. Parkour is an international discipline, sport, and hobby that is best described as the art of forward motion in spite of obstacles, or to put it simply: the art of movement. Parkour's chief aim is never to move backward but instead to overcome obstacles with strength, fluidity, originality and speed.

Description: Students will apply their imaginations and the engineering design process to create and build news toys each week as if they are engineers who work for Santa in the North Pole. Building toys has significant cognitive and academic benefits for children of all ages. Not only are they fun and exciting, but they help kids develop a wide variety of skills and abilities. They help prepare kids for school, sports and life!

Practical Survival Engineering 6-9th

Description: This class applies practical engineering to “real life” scenarios. What happens in the event of an unforeseen incident-- could you survive? This program will teach you how to learn and apply practical engineering in survival scenarios. Some activities include building a working flashlight in case of a power outage, inventing ways to signal attention such as smoke bombs, and creating a compass to help find your way home if lost. This class is project-based and teaches you how to stay safe while using everyday household material. We emphasize the fun in learning practical engineering tips for real life survival and those what-if scenarios!

Grossology K-2nd

Description: Grossology: The Science of the Disgusting. Kids learn how and why the body does those yucky things it does - like pooping, farting, belching, and making snot. If you said to your students, "Raise your hand if you want to learn about the excretory system" how many students would respond? However, if you said, "Raise your hand if you want to learn about pee, poo, and sweat" many enthusiastic hands would go up. That is the teaching approach used by Grossology. This course will be an exciting hands-on learning experience.

This is a 16 week- one semester course meant to be taken in 2 semesters.

The first Semester we will be working in Grossology on sticky, goopy, gross things like pus, blood, snot and boogers, athlete's foot, etc…

The second Semester we will be looking at squishy, mucky, gross things like brains, eyeballs, guts, constipation, bruises, etc…
